Yes: You have accurately described what is happening. The heart likes to be in rhythm. When an extra (premature) beat happens, as it does for everyone, the heart pauses a moment to get back into the original rhythm. During the pause, there is extra time to fill so the next beat is extra strong. This is called "post-extra-systolic potentiation". Caffeine, alchohol, nicotine, fatigue, stress make it wors.
