A member asked:

My wife's aunt has a daugher with down's syndrome. what are the chances my wife will have a baby with down's? wife is 32 years old and pregnant.

Not a family issue: Your wife's basic risk of a ds birth is estimated at 1/800. There is a basic risk of 4% with each pregnancy for an unexpected outcome such as cleft lip/palate, prematurity, delivery issues, etc. Having a second degree relative with a ds offspring does not increase her basic risk to any significant degree.
