A member asked:

I an breastfeeding and i have tissue damage on my one nipple, it is very painful, what can i do? i am applying cream , should i continue to feed ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breast pain: It is very common to get mastitis, a superficial inflammatory condition, and cracks and fissures in the nipple that can get infected, while breast feeding. Local cremes should help, but if the symptoms don't clear, you should call your doctor and explore alternative treatments. You can try pumping and collect the milk if only for the short term until the condition heals.
