Ask ur Surgeon: If you have surgery planned, what did the surgeon say? Vast majority of gb are removed laparoscopically, w/only rare "open" cases now. Much less bleeding / faster recovery times. Appy issue could have been from rupture/infection present/other issues and may not predict future surgery problems.

Possibly: Just because you had some complications from your appendix surgery doesn't mean you will have an open cholecystectomy for sure. The determination for open gallbladder surgery is based upon the ability of the surgeon to safely visualize and remove the gallbladder.
