THC persists: Unfortunately, tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana and hashish, stores persistently in fat. It is therefore released over a very long time after discontinuation. Studies on the effect of thc in utero and in developing infants are mixed--and much politicized. Most people find it hard to stop its use, even when they decide it's prudent to do so. Just stop: If I go looking for evidence of drug exposure in a newborn, I can find it for any exposure, including THC done after about 20 weeks gestation. There is no flushing agent for baby. If you are currently monitored by Children & Family services they will push an evaluation. If not stay clean & don't surround yourself with THC smelling friends while in labor, or they will look for it.
