When you get a barium enema, how long or round is piece that is inserted into rectum? i am nervous about the whole procedure!

Not Big: I've been the inserter and the insertee. The tip is about as thick as an index finger with a mild area of widening about an inch from the end of the tip. A small balloon may be inflated after the tip is inserted (with lots of lubricant). The balloon helps you keep the enema from leaking out. Only a few inches of the tip will get inserted. Try not to get too worked up. The prep is a bigger deal.
