Vagina: The hymen is a membrane inside the vagina. If you are having your period or ever used tampons, it is already gone. Very few people make it to puberty with an intact hymen. If it is, it's diagnosed at puberty when menstrual blood gets trapped behind it; then surgical opening is required.
