No: You most likely are on regular metformin. The slow release version is cheap and much much better tolerated. If not trying to conceive, you should be on a birth control pill to control it best. There are no herbal options that have any significant impact on the problems.

I'm close by!: Hi there, i'm a board certified reproductive endocrinologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of pcos. You may not "need" metformin or may have been prescribed too high a dose by a doctor unfamiliar with its use. Even if you were on a low dose, you should consider being managed by an expert (some women diagnosed as pcos don't even have it!). Dr. Roseff (561-549-9010, ext. 3340).
