No: You most likely are on regular metformin. The slow release version is cheap and much much better tolerated. If not trying to conceive, you should be on a birth control pill to control it best. There are no herbal options that have any significant impact on the problems.

You may not "need" metformin or may have been prescribed too high a dose by a doctor unfamiliar with its use.
