A member asked:

I have thin, black longitudinal lines running down the nails of 3 fingers. some are wider than others. i also have vitiligo. what causes the lines?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pigment cells: This is caused by pigmentbcells at the base of the nail and is common in african americans. The vitiliog is not conner ted but can be treated depending on the area, and size of the vitiigo. The lines do not require treatment. Removal would require surgery which is not recommended.
