Professional Help: When a person becomes so depressed that they can not handle daily tasks of every day living - that is serious. Please do not delay in getting help. Recommend that you start by arranging an evaluation with a psychiatrist. Take care.

Get checked out: If a person depressed and can't get out of bed or eat, they definitely should be evaluated. A physical exam with appropriate blood tests are indicated as is an evaluation by a psychiatrist or other mental health professional. Depression is treatable.
