Encourage them: One of the best things you can do for your suffering loved one is to encourage them, and if necessary help enable them, to get ongoing help from a mental health professional. If they are already engaged with services, being empathic and non blaming with regard to the debilitating symptoms involved is always a good thing to offer.

See link : I like to use the national institute of mental health for information and guidance. It is non-biased i.e. No commercials. I direct family and loved ones of people with depression to this link: http://www.Nimh.Nih.Gov/health/publications/depression/how-can-i-help-a-loved-one-who-is-depressed.Shtml also---after your loved one is stabilized, ask to attend a meeting with their doctor/therapist.
