It's difficult: I would try and enlist the help of family first. Try and talk to the loved one in a non-threatening, non-judgmental way. Try asking questions instead of lecturing. Try making "i feel" statements avoiding the word you. Like: i feel worried. I feel that my opinions don't matter. I feel frustrated. I feel lonely. I feel concerned. I feel uneasy. But avoid saying you or the person will be defensive.

Tell them that: You love them and are worried about them. Offer to go with them to meet with a therapist. If they are suicidal, talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist on your own about your concerns they will be able to advise you on what you can do to get them help.
