A member asked:

Is it wrong or dangerous for a pregnant in the 9th month to take iron capsules at night and if it is better to take them in the morning ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Okay, but. . .: It's okay to take iron if you were advised by your ob. Most iron supplements work best if you take them on an empty stomach regardless of the time of day. If you feel that you must eat when taking iron, avoid taking with: antacids, milk, calcium, caffeinated drinks, high fiber foods and certain medications (including penicillin). Constipation may be avoided by using colace (docusate sodium).
