Pulsatile tinnitus: It is common to hear turbulent blood flow in the carotid artery. Sometimes this is due to tortuosity in an otherwise normal artery. Occasionally, pulsatile noise can indicate an accumulation of plaque in the artery. Ultrasound is an inexpensive test that can define the signficance of the finding.
