Rice cereal to help reflux at 9 weeks?

Not recommended: Although everyone knows someone who did this and the child turned out just fine, it really isn't recommended. As long as your child is growing well and developing normally, they should grow out of this...Eventually. Burping well and sitting up (car seat) for a while after eating can both help. Antireflux formulas and adding rice cereal really don't do a lot to help.

Gut is not ready: A baby's intestines and digestive system are not ready for solid food (including rice cereal) at this young age. We recommend starting between 4-6 months. If your little one is very uncomfortable and in pain due to reflux talk to your pediatrician about meds available to help. Also- try to slow down feedings, burp often and keep them upright for 30 min after feeding.
