A member asked:

It says for my thyroid results "elevated t4." what does this mean and how bad is this for my health?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Could be hyperthyroi: Your thyroid may be overactive, but you need more tests than just a T4 to determine this. Common symptoms of hyperthyroid are nervousness, tremor, sweating, rapid heart rate. Untreated, these symptoms can be dangerous, especially to the heart. Treatment includes medications, possibly surgery or radioactive iodine. You may need to see an endocrinologist.
