Many possibilities: If the person has the increased physical energy necessary to walk with a prosthesis a good rehabilitation team that includes physical therapists, prosthetists, psychologists and physical rehabilitation physicians (physiatrists) can help the vast majority of amputees return to an active lifestyle.

Husband is an AK amputee. Has little tissue over end of bone. A blister formed from the prosthetic. Can see the bone thru open wound - not poking out. XRAY neg for infection. Dr. gave ABX. Was advised to shower and wash wound. Is this appropriate?
