Could become serious: Patients with diabetes are particularly susceptible to infection primarily because of neuropathy, vascular insufficiency, and due to a diminished healing ability. Patients with diabetes lose the protective sensations for temperature and pain, and may have an impairing awareness of trauma such as abrasions, blistering, or penetrating foreign body. It depends: On how large and.Or deep the scrape is, and how controlled your blood sugars are, and if it is on your limbs if peripheral vascular disease or neuropathy is present. Seek medical attention immediately. It is much better to play it safe with diabetes. Diabetic infections, nonhealing wounds are concerns if your blood sugars are high, and/or if you have neuropathy or circulatory issues.
