My daughter has bad kidneys and lately they have been acting up. what may cause this?

Multiple things: There are many, many different causes of kidney disease. It could be medication related, due to dehydration, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis, tubular disease, vasculitis, etc. You would have to give more history before the differential could be narrowed down.
