A member asked:

What is a better choice for skin staph infection: maximum strength neosporin or bacitracin with zinc along with the oral antibiotic doxycyline? thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doxycycline: The treatment of choice for any staph infection is oral Doxycycline (or one of the other antibiotics indicated for staph). Topical creams such as neosporin or Bacitracin are relatively ineffective; they might have a small supplemental effect when used with an oral antibiotic, but should not be used by themselves for staph.
