Lead by example: See your doctors to find out if you have medical issues associated with obesity. Allow him time to talk to his doctor alone about his mood, peers, academics, drugs. Sex, etc. If the whole family commits to changing diet & lifestyle. Including limiting tv/game time to 2 hours/day & exercising regularly, he'll be more likely to take continue at 18, when his medical care is his responsibility.
