Rice: If you can walk on it. It is unlikely you have a fracture. For the first 24 hours i would rest ice compression elevation. I would add to that otc medication such as aleve (naproxen) to reduce the pain and inflammation. I might also wear an ankle support/splint for a week. If it does not rapidly improve i would see an orthopedic doctor who may order an mri.

Twisted: See a podiatrist or orthopedist asap , you might have a fracture or torn ligament. Until the ice for 15 mob twice a day and crutches to limit stresses on the foot.
