Can a person with a history of sciatica safely do backflips and kip-ups?

Sciatica: I would be hesitant with backflips. You might aggravate it. You can try a few but if there is any pain you need to stop.

As long as you have : No current symptoms and are in good physical shape in terms of regular exercise with good flexibility, core strength and cardio fit with weight under control and hopefully not smoking, this type of activity would suggest that you are good shape. However, if none of the above is true, forget about it!

Sure: But anytime there is a low back injury in the past it can always come back, so safely is a relative term.
