Depends: It depends on many factors. Chief among them is who is doing your surgery. Typically I do not use stents and i sew the septum together. I do use some sponges in the nose overnight because when i fix patients septums i also reduce the size of their turbinates. My patients typically tell me that it is uncomfortable but not painful. I do give them vicodin overnight in case they are in pain.
