Many things: First of all do you know why you have chronic back pain? What diagnostic tests have you had? What treatment have you had? How severe is it? Then i can better answer your question. In general you could try physical therapy, standard analgesics (unless there is any contraindication) or muscle relaxant. Snri class of antidepressant like Cymbalta (duloxetine) is fda approved for chronic pain. Acupuncture may help.

Inversion table: If there are pinched nerves inversion table should help. The location of pain can signify what the problem is lower back could be helped with orthotics like walkfit, middle back usually need help with organs like pancreas, kidney, liver, gallbladder, upper back due to neck issues.

Many therapies: Have a work up (mri). Determine cause and severity. Start otc anti inflammatory. Exercise program/ physical therapy. Prescription anti inflammatory/muscle relaxer/pain killer. If fails, epidural injections. If persists, consider surgery.
