In general you could try physical therapy, standard analgesics (unless there is any contraindication) or muscle relaxant. Snri class of antidepressant like Cymbalta (duloxetine) is fda approved for chronic pain. Acupuncture may help.

Many therapies: Have a work up (mri). Determine cause and severity. Start otc anti inflammatory. Exercise program/ physical therapy. Prescription anti inflammatory/muscle relaxer/pain killer. If fails, epidural injections. If persists, consider surgery.
