What are the differences between the "face" ct, brain ct, and "skull" ct? don't they all show the same area?

Not exactly: The xray images are concentrated on the structures of the face, or scan the brain in general, or are adjusted to highlight the bony structures instead of the soft tissues in the three scans you mention. They are often collected at same time in just a few minutes, but usually are read/interpreted indivudually for clarity by the radiologist.

Similar: There are differences in the areas the different ct s focus on. Ct of the face focuses on orbits, sinuses etc, brain will show more details of different area of the brain and less detail of the bones of the face.
