More severe asthma: Rescue inhalers and long acting bronchodilators (salmeterol, formoterol, indacaterol), do not treat the allergic inflammation of athma. In many asthmatics (not all), they lose their efficacy over time. They also may mask worsening asthma. Therefore, remember: if you use a rescue inhaler more than x2/week daytime (except before exercise) or x2/month at night, see your doctor.
