Similar: For the most part ppi's are very similar. Some have a faster action others may be more potent and even one of them has a 2 time peaks of action.

Personal choice: People tend to choose the ppi that works best for them with the fewest side effects. All inhibit acid well, but the duration of activity may not last 24 hrs in some (despite claims). Some may cause headache, not a condition every one is willing to tolerate on a daily basis. Research tends to claim that all ppi's r equally effective. Possibly, but the above factors, & price guide their choice.
