Good question.: Individuals vary widely; some on Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) will demonstrate increased caloric expenditure (which would be a reflection of higher "metabolism"). Others, especially very hyperactive children may decrease energy expenditure, because the med enables them to sit still more often. Dosage also makes a difference. The wgt loss however, that often occurs w/ Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is primarily due to decreased appetite.
