How long would it take someone to get over an addictive drug that they have been taking for a week?

Prob not addicted: One of my pet peeves is the term "addictive drug." no drug is addictive but many drugs have to potential to induce physical dependency in people, and in some of those people, this may lead to addiction. Addiction requires the active participation of the person themself. It would be rare for anyone to develop a significant dependency on opiates or sedatives in a week. Just stop/quickly taper.
