Cysts that are worrisome are , large, or growing over time or septated, that dont change with menstrual cycle, especially in postmenopausal patients. Some possibilities: An ovarian cyst is a liquid-filled lump on an ovary. Small cysts may not have symptoms. Cysts can go away on their own over a few months. Large cysts can cause menstrual cycle problems, dull pelvic ache, pelvic pain or pressure when pooping (bowel movement) or urinating, etc... "sudden and severe" abdominal or pelvic pain needs immediate medical attention, to check for a ruptured, bleeding cyst.
