You need treatment: Acute asthma attack has to be treated immediately and properly with oral/inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilaters to control an acute attack often requiring hospitalisation or treated intensively at home with office follw up.And that will get you out of it but you need follow up by your doctor for long term to control and prevent acute attacks.

Develop a plan: Successful asthma control can be achieved when you find a doc you can work with, learn the treatments & monitoring devices & develop a plan. This plan would include a way to tell if your control is getting better or worse (peak flow meter, symptom chart). It would include a plan for daily meds & when to use episodic rescue meds. Rescue meds are specifically used to stop an attack.
