Booster needed: Pretty rare. But if you haven't had tetanus booster in the last ten years get one to protect yourself. Tetanus is a slow growing organism, so you have time to get that booster, but don't procrastinate too long.

Some basics: Tetanus spores, like dust, are everywhere in the environment and in higher concentration outside and I soils. They can enter any break in the skin like regular germs. Over time they emerge and establish a germ infection and begin to make the toxin that causes tetanus. If you've had a tetanus booster within 10 yrs you only need to worry about a regular germ infection, if not, get one.
