A member asked:

Is it possible for chronic leukemia to turn into acute leukemia?

Yes.: There are 2 common types of chronic leukemia, chronic myeloid and chronic lymphoid leukemia. With current treatment, CML now rarely converts to acute if treatment starts early. After a long time, cll can transform to more aggressive leukemias or related cancers.

Yes: CML can turn into acute leukemia if not treated with one of several modern drugs called tkis. Tkis will prevent this transformation for at least 80% of patients for more than 10 years.

Yes: Yes, chronic leukemias, usually after a relatively long period of evolution, may turn into an accelerated phase, sometimes called "blast" phase, which is equivalent with acute leukemia. This transformation indicates accelerated progression.
