Scientific Rx: Soap will barely touch your acne. The only over-the-counter rx that works well is benzoyl peroxide; if you have blackheads, your physician will consider adding a topical retinoic acid derivative, and i generally give topical clindamycin. If this is insufficient, an oral antibiotic that's right for you is the next step. Dermatologists can prescribe the big guns. Treatment works.
