Femoral block acl: The most common nerve block used for acl surgery is a femoral nerve block. These can either be a single injection or may include placement of a catheter (tube) that provides medicine for up to several days. The anesthesiologist typically uses local anesthesia to numb the skin as well as giving sedation to reduce anxiety and pain; therefore, the pain is typically minimal, although exceptions occur.

It is not : Very painful at all. Further, you can receive sedation prior to its placement. A good femoral nerve block is worth the effort because it can make your recovery much easier.
