EGD...: Egd (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) is the procedure doctors perform to look inside the stomach. You are sedated with IV medications then the doctor places the scope through your mouth and down the esophagus and into the stomach and duodenum (small intestine). It takes on average 10 minutes and much can be learned from the procedure. You wake up afterwards and will need a ride home.
