Get XRay: You should make sure to get an xray. An entitity konwn as calcific tendonitis/burisitis can be very difficult to diagnose on mri. Otherwise, you could have a labral tear for which you would need a mr arthogram and not just a normal mr of the shoulder. See a sports doc to tease these things out.
