Depends: There are long acting or sustained-release preparations of amphetamine salts that should not be chewed. Short-acting forms can be swallowed or chewed - it really doesn't make them act any more quickly. The best way to take any medication is to take the right dose at the right time by the right method. With pills, this is swallowing the pills whole. Non-drug treatment of adhd should also be used.

Not available: Amphetamines are not available in chewable form yet, pills/caps have to be swallowed after food to reduce side effects of stomach aches and headaches.
