Why is it bad to eat chicken raw? can you die from it?

Salmonella.: Raw chicken is commonly contaminated with a bacteria called salmonella that can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea and illness. Cooking chicken properly kills this bacteria and protects you from being ill.
