What are the differences between short, intense workouts and long but light-weight workouts?

Muscle type: Short intense workouts target fast twitch anaerobic muscle fibers and are good for building bulk, power and explosive strength. Long and light ( high reps with lighter weight) build aerobic lean muscle and are good for improving endurance and tone. The best workout regimen will include some combination of both.
