Depends: Some migraines occur because of certain inciting factors (altitude, certain foods, alcohol, etc.) avoidance of these factors can help in prevention. Other migraines give you a "warning" such as visual disturbances or altered sense of smell ("classic" migraine.) prevention of these require the use of prescription "triptan" medications. Also, avoiding know triggers such as alcohol, aged cheeses, etc can help. Its important to work with your doctor to find the best approach for you.

Your life style: Migraine is a neurologic/body disorder; get your life style back in order. Keep the same schedule daily, drink lots of water, moderate exercise regularly, balanced diet to keep your weight down, pain diary. Treatments: physical therapy, acupuncture, supplements, stress control/relaxation, biofeedback, cognitive behavioral therapy. Most important: see your physician for a proper diagnosis.
