Yes: I prefer to start with topicals, but often we need to add oral medications, such as the oral contraceptive pill for women who can take it, and the right macrolide or tetracycline antibiotic. Dermatologists have the big guns such as accutane. Nobody should have to live with bad acne in the 21st century.
