Address the cause: Really bad memory in a young person is often due to drug or alcohol use (including prescribed or over-the-counter medicines), head injury from sports etc, or sleep deprivation. Minimize the possible causes first. If it's still a problem, best to see a doctor for a fuller evaluation.

Evaluation: I would also recommend that you first see your physician quickly. Then appropriate referral can be made to a neurologist and neuropsychologist for memory evaluation if needed.
