A member asked:

Could this knee pain be due to deep vein thrombosis?

Maybe yes: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can present with leg pains, usually deep hard to specifically locate. Calf pain is more typical of dvt, especially if the pain is worse when you flex your ankle. If you have concerns about pains possibly being dvts go to your doctor or local er for further evaluation. Dvts can get loose and cause serious troubles with breathing (pulmonary embolism).

Could be: I agree with dr. Kohl, it could be. There are many other possibilities too. It is potentially serious enough though that you should get it checked out, even if only for peace of mind.

Knee pain from DVT?: As dr. Kohl said, it is probably possible but would be unusual. If you are concerned that you might have a dvt, you should see a doctor for an evaluation.

Dvt: localized pain unlikely to be a dvt but evaluation with venous doppler sonogram will decide that issue
