Retainer replacement: If its just a small crack, and otherwise the retainer is solid, it should be ok for now. But if the crack expands, it's time for a new retainer.

Not necessarily.: Keep an eye on the crack. If it gets bigger, see the orthodontist and he can probably fix your retainer for less money than what a new one would cost.

Crack: I assume what is cracked is a clear vacuum-formed retainer. That type of retainer is fairly fragile and therefore requires periodic replacement. Return to the General Dentist or specialist Orthodontist who is familiar with your unique malocclusion, it's correction, and the retainer choices that are available to you.
