Yes: There are some cancers that have a strong heredity component. A genetics doctor should be consulted.

It could be true: Some cancers can be inherited, some others don't. Especially if there are strong family history of cancer where many family members are affected by cancers or if cancer involves somebody at a very young age- the suspicion that the cancer may be hereditary will be high. It is important to get more history about what cancers, the age they got cancer, and who got the cancer to see what your risk is.
