The cause of a gene mutation that lead to a particular cancer is variable depending on location and type, and usually not completely understood. Potential causes include hereditary, environmental exposure (ie tobacco, alcohol, diet), after infection(hpv or hepatitis b), stress.

Many known causes an: Cancer can be caused by many known and some unknown causes. The known causes are smoking or tobacco chewing. Alcohol is also a cancer causing agent especailly when combined with smoking. There are some virus infections like hepatiits-b and c can cause liver cancer, . Cervix cancer is caused by hpv. Hiv infection besides causing aids can cause many other cancers.
