Types of Oral Cancer: There are many different types of oral cancer. The most common kind, squamous cell carcinoma, affects the tongue, the floor of mouth, the cheeks, the jaws and the throat. Also, there are less common salivary gland cancers that can affect any of the very many salivary glands inside the mouth. Then there are the rare malignancies that may be metastatic from a remote site, such as melanoma or others.
