Pehaps: Go back to the doctor and get an mri. Ligament injuries that are under treated, i.e. Not immobilized long enough can take months to resolve. Add an NSAID like ibuprofen.

Have it evaluated.: Ankle pain following and injury may last a long time. The pain may be due to a fracture, sprains, arthritis, or a soft tissue injury involving the tendon, ligaments or nerves . Have the foot evaluated so that you may get the appropriate care. Surgery may be an option in some cases.

SUBTALAR JOINT: With unresolving ankle sprains, frequently the subtalar joint (the joint below the ankle joint) is overlooked, and could be the culprit. If the ankle seems ok, I frequently inject cortisone into the STJ, with pretty good, but not 100%, success. Good luck. Dr. Latva
